Brace-Ed was founded in the 2015-16 school year, with AP Calculus AB being the first course taught. The course was taught to support students who had insufficient education in the subject of calculus in the two months before the AP exam. Going forward, there may be more STEM courses available - AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science, and/or AP Statistics are in consideration.
Catherine is a senior at Stanford University Online High School and a former student from Basis Independent Silicon Valley. Catherine was awarded the Spirit of Ramanujan Math Initiative Fellowship in 2017 and did number theory research in the summer of 2017. Passionate to use technology to improve education, she has interned at Khan Academy and had created multiple educational apps, receiving a scholarship to Apple’s WWDC in 2016. In line with her mission to improve global math education, she founded Brace-Ed and volunteers at the San Jose Math Circle. She loves to teach and looks forward to her next Brace-Ed class.
