The AP Calculus AB exam in 2017 has a revised/updated exam format and structure as compared to previous years. The exam is 3 hours and 15 minutes long with two sections - Multiple Choice (MC) and Free-Response Questions (FRQ).

- Multiple Choice (50% of Overall Exam Score)
- Part A: No Calculator. 30 questions, 60 minutes.
- Part B: Calculator Required. 15 questions, 45 minutes.
- Free-Response (50% of Overall Exam Score)
- Part A: Calculator Required. 2 problems, 30 minutes.
- Part B: No Calculator. 4 problems, 60 minutes.
